Macclesfield's Richard Walker faces a three-game ban after being charged by the Football Association for clashing with Rotherham's Drewe Broughton.
The 28-year-old defender has until 1800 GMT on Friday to appeal against the decision following the 2-0 victory over the Millers on Saturday.
The referee's advisor alerted the match officials to the second-half incident after the game.
Town will look at video evidence before deciding whether to appeal.
