Gleeson is in his debut season at Kenilworth Road

Luton Town are hopeful an injury that forced Dan Gleeson to be stretchered off in Tuesday's 5-0 win over York is not as bad as first feared.

A second-half challenge by City midfielder Danny Ricchi left the 25-year-old right-back in a leg splint.

But Hatters boss Richard Money told BBC Three Counties Radio that the initial signs are there is no break.

"He's gone to hospital for an X-ray but the physios are quietly confident there is nothing too serious there," he said.

"I didn't think the tackle on Gleeson was too clever, but fingers crossed it's not too serious."

Gleeson joined Luton from Cambridge United in the summer, after turning down a new contract at the Abbey Stadium.

He has gone on to be a regular at Kenilworth Road, featuring 27 times this season.

Meanwhile Money was full of praise for young holding-midfielder Godfrey Poku, who made his first league start for Town since joining from St Albans in January last year.

"I've been saying for some time that there's a very interesting player developing there," he said of the 20-year-old.

"That's his debut at this level and I think he can be really pleased with it, and we were commenting how he and Keith Keane were really the dogs of war.

"But they're a little bit more than that because they can both play."
