Luton Town defy Conference ticket ruling over York game
Luton Town will grant season ticket holders free entry to Tuesday's clash with York City, despite a Football Conference ruling to the contrary.
The initial fixture at Kenilworth Road on 18 December was abandoned after 56 minutes because of a snow flurry.
The Hatters say they will uphold their commitment to charging ticket holders half-price and season ticket holders nothing for the rescheduled game.
Town added they would appeal the decision with the Football Association.
The Conference has also decreed that gate receipts should be split equally between the two sides in order to help City cover travel arrangements for the game.
A Luton statement read: "Luton Town made an offer to York City to cover all travelling expenses, thus ensuring that York City were not financially disadvantaged.
"This offer was rejected by York City."
The Minstermen replied with their own statement: "York City Football Club did not make any representations to the Football Conference Board on how the replayed game should be conducted, but sought clarification of the rules that apply in such circumstances.
"The Football Conference Board ruled the rescheduled game should be treated like a cup tie and the gate receipts should be split between the two clubs.
"In accordance with the rules and following the guidance of the Football Conference Board, we believe sharing the gate receipts is a fair and reasonable approach to the match, as Luton Town generated all the income from the original abandoned game."
York added they had no issue with the Hatters' policy of charging half-price admission to those who went to the abandoned game.
And York say they hope to use funds from Tuesday's game to "to mitigate the increased police costs York City faces for our home game against Luton Town in March as a result of the disturbances that occurred at Kenilworth Road."
