Luton Town have signed centre-half Zdenek Kroca, 29, and are set to sign 27-year-old midfielder Pavel Besta after both impressed while on trial.
The Czech pair featured in the Hatters' 4-1 victory against a Newcastle XI on Wednesday and boss Richard Money saw enough to offer them contracts.
He told BBC Three Counties Radio: "I'm going to sign both, Kroca's already signed a contract until January.
"We'll try and do the same with Besta. They look like they fit the bill."
He added: "There's always a question mark over whether they could cope with the hurly-burly.
"But I'd suggest if you're from the Czech Republic you're pretty tough."
Kroca had already raised his profile by scoring the only goal of the game as Luton overcame Kilmarnock in an earlier pre-season friendly.
"Having seen him last week you can see he is a quality footballer," said Money.
"Newcastle's Nile Ranger is a real handful but Kroca played him like a proper centre-half today."
The Luton boss was equally as glowing about Besta.
"He looks exactly what we need," he said.
"A tough, uncompromising, proper central midfield player who can keep that box of four very, very strong."
Meanwhile chairman Gary Sweet has admitted the £18 the club charged fans to watch the warm-up match with Newcastle was too much money.
He said: "Our job is to have an optimum price so we can get the maximum income from the game.
"If I were to re-price it now having looked back I would probably knock three quid or something off the ticket price.
"But we didn't have that foresight when we priced the tickets well before the World Cup final."
