Terry Butcher said he had enjoyed his coaching role at Partick Thistle

Butcher, 48, parted company with Australian A League side Sydney FC in February, and recently joined Partick Thistle as a coach.

But he said he did not want to take over at Partick.

"In my eyes Jimmy Bone should get the job. He knows the players and knows what has to be done," said Butcher.

Butcher said Thistle were a "very big club" and that he had enjoyed his time coaching the Glasgow side.

On the Livingston job, Butcher said: "We will have to wait and see.

"Any job that comes up, everybody will be looking to throw their hat into the ring as there's so much competition.

"I've not applied for the job and had no contact from Livingston."

Butcher added: "I'm still working at Partick Thistle, lots of people have applied for it (the Livingston job).

"It's up to the club to approach people and see if they want the job or not."

Livingston sacked boss John Robertson last Sunday, with the club lying sixth in the First Division.

The West Lothian club's chairman Pearse Flynn has not revealed who has applied for the job, but BBC Scotland understands former Hearts boss Graham Rix is among the candidates.
