Liverpool midfielder Lucas says the Reds must replicate their results over the big sides in the Premier League against other teams in the division.
Kenny Dalglish's team bounced back from defeat by West Bromwich Albion to beat Manchester City 3-0 on Monday night.
"We have won all of the big games under Kenny, against both Manchester teams and against Chelsea," points out Lucas.
"We must make sure we play every game with the same character and intensity," he told BBC Radio Merseyside."
"If we play like this we will be in a better position."

Liverpool boosted their hopes of a European place by moving to within five points of fifth-placed Tottenham, who still have to come to Anfield.
One player who has impressed Lucas in recent weeks has been fellow midfielder Jay Spearing.
And the Brazil international says the 22-year-old academy graduate is always willing to learn.
"Jay is a very good lad," added Lucas, 24. "He likes to listen to the experienced players.
"I'm young but I'm more experienced than him, so he likes to listen and he asks for advice.
"I like to listen to players like Pepe Reina and Jamie Carragher. They always want to give you some advice and it's really important.
"I think he's doing really well at the moment.
"He's another player that has come through the academy and that's what the fans want to see, a few young players coming into the team and doing well."
