Dalglish scored 172 goals in 515 appearances at Liverpool
Former Liverpool striker Kenny Dalglish said it was good to once again grace the Anfield turf during the Hillsborough Memorial game on Thursday.
Dalglish was player-manager for his Liverpool Legends side as they claimed a 3-1 victory over an All Star team.
"Anybody who's been involved at the club always enjoys coming back," Dalglish told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"Walking down the steps and you see the sign and you know where you're going then. It was really enjoyable."
The Liverpool Legends side included many players of Liverpool's past including Ian Rush, Jan Molby and Peter Beardsley.
But Dalglish, who scored a goal in front of the Kop in the final few minutes of the match, had special praise for many of the players who lined up for the All Star team.
Many former England internationals played along with three former Nottingham Forest players who represent the day the Hillsborough disaster took place in 1989.
"You must pay credit to the All Stars and the other lads that came along as well," continued Dalglish.
"Nigel Clough, Des Walker and Steve Hodge were involved and it's brilliant for them to come along and play. Especially Cloughy as it's very poignant for him."
Manager for the All Star team was Liverpudlian comedian Ricky Tomlinson and he was in great sprits after the game even though his team were at the wrong end of the scoreline.
But he was delighted with the turn-out from the fans as over 20,000 came and gave their support for the Hillsborough families and the Marina Dalglish Appeal.
"I think it was a great occasion," said Tomlinson.
"I think Kenny and his wife have done an incredible job. I just think the turn-out was fantastic and it speaks volumes for the people of Liverpool.
"I know we are in the middle of a credit crunch and times are hard, but they will always dig into their pockets and support a worthy cause if it is worthy cause, and this one was."
