Lincoln City set timescale for appointing new manager
Bob Dorrian was first appointed chairman of Lincoln City in June 2010
Lincoln City chairman Bob Dorrian says that the Imps are aiming to appoint a new manager in time for the trip to Shrewsbury on 16 October.
The board met on Thursday evening to decide on a final shortlist of candidates to replace Chris Sutton.
Dorrian told BBC Lincolnshire: "So far we've picked out six or seven who we think will be worth an interview.
"We hope that, by next Friday or Saturday, we'll have made our decision and a new manager will be in place."
Names linked with the vacancy include former Southend boss Steve Tilson, ex-Darlington and Doncaster boss Dave Penney and former Imps manager Steve Thompson, who first took charge of the club 20 years ago.
We are fully prepared to spend more money. Not that we have an awful lot, but we will find it

Accrington's John Coleman has also been linked with the job, although he now looks set to sign a new contract at the Crown Ground.
Dorrian would not reveal who was likely to be on Lincoln's shortlist. But he said: "There are two or three who we're looking at who are currently in jobs in the Football League.
"We have to go with somebody who's got knowledge of lower league football and some kind of proven success, but it won't be a manager who's been around the block a few times."
Dorrian added that, with the Imps currently 22nd in League Two, a quick appointment would give the new manager plenty of time to turn things around at Sincil Bank.
"We feel that there is a good squad of players and we're only 10 games into the season," he added.
"There's a lot of time left to turn the situation around so what we want to do is give the incumbent every possibility of transforming the team.
"We know he'll have reservations about certain areas of the team and we are fully prepared to spend more money. Not that we have an awful lot, but we will find it."
