Lincoln City manager Chris Sutton has said Ian Pearce and Jamie Clapham played key roles in the Imps' 1-0 win at Gillingham in League Two.

Both made their first starts of the season with Pearce at centre-half and Clapham in a holding midfield role.

Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "Ian organised and Jamie settled us down.

"Maybe that's what we've missed. We've got people who can put the effort in, but at times you need to steady things and I thought they were exceptional."

Lincoln earned their first points of the season with the victory in Kent, with Cian Hughton scoring the only goal of the game after nine minutes.
