Lincoln City beaten by Celtic in friendly

Albert Jarrett
Jarrett's 16th-minute goal was his first for Lincoln City

Albert Jarrett was on target for Lincoln City as they lost 4-1 to Celtic in their friendly at Sincil Bank.

Jarrett blasted home Mustapha Carayol's 16th-minute cross to put the Imps ahead but Daryl Murphy and Ben Hutchinson gave the visitors a 2-1 half-time lead.

Second-half goals from Hutchinson and Simon Ferry sealed Celtic's win.

Lincoln manager Chris Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "We were too open at times, and if you give good players time and space they will punish you."

But Sutton felt his players acquitted themselves well, particularly in attack.

"We looked dangerous at times in wide areas and caused them problems and had some good chances," he said.

"On another day could have had a few more goals. Going forward we didn't do too badly but they were very good players which is why they're at Celtic.

"When you play sides who are comfortable in possession you have to be wise.

"But we can take a lot of positives out of the game and it's good for my players to see what top sides are all about."
