Hughton scored in the Imps' victories over Chesterfield and Barnet
Lincoln City defender Cian Hughton has signed a new 18-month contract after impressing manager Chris Sutton.
Hughton, 20, has scored twice in 20 league appearances since joining on a six-month deal in the summer under former Imps boss Peter Jackson.
He told BBC Lincolnshire: "There have been three managers since I've been here so it's been tough.
"I'm glad I've impressed the new boss enough to be part of his plans this season and next."
The Republic of Ireland under-21 international, who is the son of Newcastle boss Chris Hughton, added: "It's good for me, I'm settled and I know what I'm doing so hopefully I can keep improving."
The new contract will keep him at Sincil Bank until the summer of 2011.
