Lincoln City's assistant manager Ian Pearce has signed a playing contract with the Imps.
The 35-year-old former Blackburn and West Ham defender is available for selection for Lincoln's League Two game at Macclesfield on Saturday.
Pearce last played a match in February 2008 when he was on loan at Southampton from Fulham.
New Lincoln manager Chris Sutton said when he was appointed that there was a chance of Pearce signing as a player.
