Pearce has struggled to hold down a place at Craven Cottage

The 33-year-old centre back is new Saints boss Nigel Pearson's first addition to his squad.

Pearson told Southampton's website: "I am delighted to have brought Ian in. He is an experienced head, calm, confident and a quality player."

Pearce has been at Fulham since 2004 but has made only two appearances this season, with the last one coming in August last year.
