Simon Clark has been in temporary charge since Peter Jackson's dismissal
Lincoln City have confirmed to BBC Radio Lincolnshire that they will hold second interviews this week with three or four prospective managers.
The Imps' board received more than 70 applications for the post and held 10 preliminary interviews.
Amongst those believed to have talked to the board are caretaker manager Simon Clark and ex-Nottingham Forest reserve team manager John Pemberton.
Former Cambridge boss Gary Brabin has also been linked with the job.
The Imps hope to name their new manager early next week.
Speaking after Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Shrewsbury, Clark told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "You need direction so that everyone unites and goes forward, that's important.
"On the other hand you don't want to rush into a decision because you don't want to appoint the wrong man.
"They have to be patient and hopefully the board will make the right decision."
