Striker Howe says Imps can go up

Howe had grown tired of waiting for a League One club to come in

New Lincoln City loan signing Rene Howe says the club can fight for an automatic promotion place this season.

The 22-year-old striker has joined the Imps from Peterborough United until the new year with an option to extend the loan deal further if needed.

He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I'm happy coming here. I need to get to a club, settle down and get playing.

"The prospects have got to be good. With the confidence of the lads they should easily be going for promotion."

Imps manager Peter Jackson said: "I'm delighted to welcome Rene to the club. I just felt we were a little bit short of options up front and certainly Rene brings them to the club."

Jackson also confirmed that Howe would be his last signing of the summer: "That's it. Obviously the budget has gone now. I've reduced the size of my squad and obviously money is really tight."

The Imps kick off their League Two campaign on Saturday against Barnet.
