Wright feels wage controls should be introduced across the Football League
Lincoln City chairman Steff Wright has said he fears the current economic downturn could lead to some league clubs going out of business.
Businessman Wright feels the game is no less vulnerable than other industries.
He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Football can't escape from what's going on with the economy.
"I think there will be more than one club in serious financial problems and at the moment I don't think people will be prepared to pick up the pieces."
Wright also says that players' agents will have to be realistic when negotiating new contracts, and that they cannot afford to risk waiting for either a better offer or a bigger club coming in for them.
He said: "If players want to take the risk and hold out until summer they may find that they've made the wrong decision.
"I would play safe. They should be looking at a little security, to make sure they've got a contract for next season.
"There will be opportunities for players to earn more money, but only if they're capable of climbing to a much higher level."
Only clubs in League Two currently face any form of wage control, being limited to a maximum of 60% of their turnover.
Chester City and Morecambe have faced transfer embargos for breaching the regulation.
