Lincoln City manager Peter Jackson has said signing striker Adrian Patulea could be difficult.
The Romanian trialist scored in the Imps' 3-2 friendly win at Retford United on Tuesday after a hat-trick against Lincoln United on Sunday.
Jackson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "When he first came he had paperwork but no club, one hat-trick later, he's got a club but no paperwork.
"We're trying to get in touch with the Romanian FA to sort it out."
Jackson indicated that he was going to give the 24-year-old, who names Rapid Bucharest among his former clubs, more opportunities to impress.
"He's been to a few other clubs and they've had the same problems so we'll work hard and hopefully sort it out," the Imps boss added.
"He's made an impact but we'll see how he goes on, I'm interested to see him against stronger opposition."
City's other goals in the 3-2 win at Retford came from Danny Hone and Jack Roberts.
