Orient sign Luton striker Parkin

Sam Parkin
Parkin will wear the number 27 shirt during his time at Orient

Striker Sam Parkin has joined Leyton Orient on loan from Luton Town.

The 27-year-old has been a long standing target of O's manager Martin Ling and will remain at the club until 10 January.

Ling told the club's website: "I'm very pleased to bring Sam to the club. He will offer something that we've been missing up front.

"He was on the radar in the summer, but it didn't quite come off and we've been keeping tabs on him since."

If he does well there's a chance we could turn it into something more permanent

Ling added: "Ever since the cruciate ligament injury to Wayne Gray we've been looking for a new striker and Sam fits the bill.

"The ingredients are all there for him to be a very good signing for us between now and January and if he does well there's a chance we could turn it into something more permanent."

Parking started his career at Chelsea and had loan spells at Millwall, Wycombe, Northampton and Oldham.

He left Chelsea in 2001, spending three years at Swindon before moving to Ipswich Town.

Roehampton-born Parkin will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game at Yeovil Town and will wear the number 27 shirt during his time with Orient.
