Luton Town duo Sam Parkin and Kevin Watson will both see specialists this week after missing Saturday's draw with Chester through injury.
Manager Mick Harford says Watson could be out for several weeks with a knee injury whilst Parkin is expected to assessed on Monday.
Harford told BBC Three Counties Radio: "Sam has been playing with a sore back for the last month.
"Kevin has had a scan on a knee injury and could be out for quite a while."
Injuries are hampering Luton's bid to overturn their 30-point deficit, and so far they have managed 11 points from their opening eight games.
"I don't want to make excuses, but we are missing four experienced players in Parkin, Watson, Kevin Nicholls and George Pilkington," said Harford.
"Sam got to a stage last week where he couldn't continue, and we tried to bring in another striker on loan."
Meanwhile Nicholls is set to play in Tuesday's reserve game against Leyton Orient, as he starts his recovery from a hamstring injury.
