Standing joined Villa with Gareth Barry in 1998

Lewes have completed the signing of unattached midfielder Michael Standing.

Standing, 27, who was part of the deal that took Gareth Barry from Brighton to Aston Villa, has played for Bradford, Walsall and was at Grays last season.

Rooks manager Kevin Keehan said: "He will be a great asset to the team with his knowledge and experience.

"This season will be very hard but an exciting one and I have maybe one or two more signings before the start of the season."
