Leicester City beat Derby County to James Vaughan swoop
Vaughan suffered a knee injury during his spell with Derby
Leicester City have beaten Championship and East Midlands rivals Derby County to the one-month loan signing of Everton striker James Vaughan.
The 21-year-old had a loan spell at Pride Park in September, playing twice, and Rams boss Nigel Clough had hoped to re-sign him on loan.
The England Under-21 international has made 57 appearances for the Toffees, scoring nine goals.
City have the option to extend the loan deal until the end of the season.
He acts as cover for the injured Matty Fryatt at the Walkers Stadium and could make his debut against Cardiff on Saturday.
Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric said: "It was unfortunate to lose Matty Fryatt but James is a proper player.
"It wasn't simple. The player was wanted by other teams. I have a good relationship with the Everton chairman and I said to him that my manager would like the player and your manager wants him to get additional experience so let's close the deal."
