Foxes to give shirt back to fans

Milan Mandaric
Mandaric says the loss of revenue from a sponsor is a price worth paying

Leicester City supporters will get to decide what is on the front of their team's shirts next season, as part of their 125th anniversary celebrations.

The Foxes will not have a main sponsor in the 2009-10 term - instead allowing fans to pick a shirt slogan.

Chairman Milan Mandaric told the club website: "Supporters are the lifeblood of any football club.

"It is only right and proper that in an anniversary year I make this gesture of appreciation to our supporters."

Fans can now vote for their favourite of four slogans on the club's website.

The options are 'Forever Foxes', '125 Years', 'Blue Army' or a blank shirt, which the club says will show the supporters are more important than corporate sponsors.

Mandaric added: "We will use next season to implement a whole range of initiatives designed to further develop and strengthen the bond between the club and its community.

"Giving the shirt back to fans is a tangible way in which we can express our gratitude."

Leicester will also introduce a new free junior members club as part of the celebrations.
