Wise's contract was terminated by Leicester after he fractured team-mate Callum Davidson's jaw in an incident on the club's pre-season tour of Finland.

But the decision was overturned by a Football League disciplinary panel, who said only a fine could be administered and Wise had to be re-instated.

The Midlands club then launched their own appeal - and have won the verdict after a hearing in front of a four-man panel at Premier League headquarters on Wednesday.

Leicester have now re-affirmed their decision to dismiss Wise, who is left facing an uncertain future.

The Football League's head of communications John Nagle said: "Based upon representations received at the last hearing the Football Disciplinary Commission made a decision to substitute a sanction of two weeks wages instead of dismissal.

"Having heard further representations today, the Appeals Committee has reversed that decision.

"This decision by the Appeals Committee is now considered to be final and binding."

Wise left the tribunal flanked by his legal team, but made no comment as he pondered whether to challenge the decision.

If he wants to re-launch his career, he would have to do it outside the Premiership with the transfer window closed - but he has already been linked with First Division clubs Watford and Portsmouth.

The panel that made the latest decision included Sir Robert Reid QC, Andy Williamson of the Football League as well as former player John Bramhall and ex-Tottenham manager Keith Burkinshaw.

The League originally decided the only punishment available to the club was to fine Wise two weeks' wages - about �70,000 - and take him back or pay up the two years of his contract worth about �3m.
