Striker Mike Grella has joined Leeds United on an 18-month deal after a successful trial period.
The 22-year-old United States youth international had been drafted by MLS side Toronto but has decided against signing for the Canadian club.
Grella began his career at Duke University before spells with Long Island Rough Riders and Cary Clarets in the fourth tier of American football.
Meanwhile, experienced defender Paul Telfer has left the club.
The 37-year-old, who made 18 appearances after being signed by former boss Gary McAllister in the summer, has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.
