New Leeds United signing Dougie Freedman has said he joined the club to play his part in history. The 33-year-old striker made his debut for Leeds in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth after joining from Crystal Palace on loan.
Leeds will make history if they win promotion after a 15 point deduction and Freedman wanted to be part of that.
"That's how the club was sold to me. To be part of a historic promotion would be great," he told BBC Radio Leeds.
The Scottish forward had been a target for manager Gary McAllister since the former Leeds midfielder took charge at Elland Road in January and impressed after coming on as a 69 minute substitute.
"I'm here to try and help the lads and add that bit of experience. The way the lads have been playing I may not get a game, but I'd take that on the chin if we keep winning.
"If they do have a dip in form the manager knows I'm on the bench and can do my bit."

When he finally stepped on to the Elland Road pitch, Freedman produced some clever touches and precise passing, much to the delight of the home crowd.
"The manager likes to get it down and pass. Leeds want the fans to be on the edge of their seats by playing entertaining football.
"I think we are trying to do it the right way and if it gets us promotion then good. That's how the manager wants it done and how the fans would like to see it done."
