Freedman has spent nine years in two spells at Selhurst Park |
Leeds United's on-loan striker Dougie Freedman is targeting promotion from League One after agreeing a loan deal from Crystal Palace. The 33-year-old has agreed terms until the end of the season.
"My only way to fight my way back for Palace is by doing this," Freedman told BBC London.
"I just feel this is as an opportunity to go and play some football, try to score a few goals, and try to get promotion for Leeds."
Freedman has made just five starts for Crystal Palace this season and has been used mainly as a substitute since Neil Warnock took over at Selhurst Park.
"I had a conversation with the (Palace) manager on Wednesday and he just told me that he doesn't really see how I'm going to get in the team this season," said Freedman.

"I spent a lot of time at Palace and I'm still very much in love with the club and this is maybe the only way I can get back to playing there, and if I don't then at least I've given it a try.
"I want to carry on playing football and that's the decision I've made."
Freedman has also admitted that he is aware of Leeds' ongoing appeal against the Football League's 15-point penalty, but is concentrating purely on football matters.
"I heard that there may be an opportunity to try to get some points back but I can't decide that.
"All I can try to do is go up there and try and do well for them and help them get promotion."
