Kidderminster Harriers release striker Aaron Farrell

Kidderminster Harriers

Kidderminster Harriers have released striker Aaron Farrell following the expiry of his contract at Aggborough.

The 23-year-old, who, rejoined Harriers for a second time in the summer after a successful trial spell, is expected to link up with a new club shortly.

Meanwhile, Harriers' trip to bottom club Chester City next Wednesday night (17 February) has been called off.

The game, rearranged from New Year's Day, has been called off as Chester's fixtures are suspended for seven days.

The Blue Square Premier's decision to impose a seven-day ban on Chester follows the cash-strapped crisis club having been forced to postponed successive matches.

Chester's players, paid only a week's wages over the last three months, refused to travel to Forest Green on Tuesday night.

And this Sunday's local derby with Wrexham has been postponed due to an unpaid police bill.

As for Farrell, who made his last start in the 4-1 win over Grays last month, Harriers manager Steve Burr says that the decision to let him go was down to a likely lack of opportunities for the teenager.

"Aaron has been fantastic for me since I've been here," said Burr. "But he is a young lad and would be much better off playing regular first-team football.

"We wish him all the best for the future and will be keeping a very close eye on his progress."

The former Sutton Coldfield Town player, who signed a contract when he began his second spell back at Aggborough in the summer, made 19 appearances for the Harriers.
