Bartlett after double Cup glory

Kidderminster Harriers goalkeeper Adam Bartlett is looking for a double FA Cup shock this weekend.

The Harriers keeper's main focus is clearly on his side's trip to Coventry.

But, following his summer move from Blyth Spartans, Bartlett admits he will also be keenly following the north-east side's fortunes at home to Blackburn.

"Blyth are playing on the Monday night so I'm really looking forward to that. I have a lot of friends at the club," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester.

"I still speak to their assistant manager Graham Fenton every other week and they're doing really well in the FA Cup which is great for the club.

"Financially that will put them in a great position for the next seven or eight seasons so they are going to be well off."

The pressure is firmly on Coventry and we're going to go there and enjoy the game.

The Harriers keeper knows full well what Blyth's cup run means to the north-east club and all the memories it evokes of their famous FA Cup campaign of 1978 when (like Harriers themselves in 1994) they reached the fifth round.

They were only denied a win at the Racecourse Ground because the referee ordered a Wrexham corner to be retaken as the flag was out of the ground.

The Welsh club equalised from the second corner and so it was all back to Tyneside for the replay with Arsenal awaiting the winners in the quarter-finals.

Bartlett might be too young himself to remember the dramatic 2-1 replay defeat at Newcastle, but he says the game is the stuff of Blyth folklore.

"It was brilliant as in the fifth round replay against Wrexham there were 42,000 at St James Park and for a non-league club that doesn't happen every day," he said.

"There is going to be a lot at Croft Park as it will be full and it will be a tough game for Blackburn, just as I hope it will be for Coventry.

"The pressure is firmly on Coventry and we're going to go there and enjoy the build up and the game.

"It's a day for ourselves, our families and the supporters, so anything we can get from there is obviously a bonus, but we're all looking forward to it."
