Harriers Trust want board place

Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust are hoping to raise 50,000 in order to gain a place on the club's board of directors.

The Trust's Steve Millington has said Harriers chairman Barry Norgrove is open to the idea of having a fans' representative on the board.

And he hopes their loan-note scheme will raise enough money.

He told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "The response has been good, we've already been promised at least 25,000."

Norgrove recently announced he was looking for individuals to invest at least 50,000 in the Blue Square Premier club, with them getting a place on the board in return.

The loan-note scheme has been set up by the trust to allow ordinary supporters to have a say for an initial investment of just 100.

It's basically a vehicle to enable us to put funds into the club in response to chairman Barry Norgrove's request

And Millington added: "It is a scheme that has been promoted by Supporters Direct and seems to have worked well at other clubs.

"It's basically a vehicle to enable us to put funds into the club in response to chairman Barry Norgrove's request.

"People give money as a loan to KHIST then we take the amount that is raised and start negotiations with the club.

"We appreciate that there's not a lot of spare money around at the moment, which is why we have a monthly standing order scheme.

"If we are successful then we'll put it back to the loan-note holders to vote on whether they want to carry on with the investment."

The scheme was first put to supporters after the recent home match against Grays Athletic.

But if the trust want to maintain a place on the Aggborough club's board they would need to pledge a similar sum annually.
