Kettering boss Lee Harper optimistic about ground deal

Kettering Town manager Lee Harper is hopeful a deal to secure the club's future will be agreed soon.

Poppies directors Ken Samuel and Lee Thorn are talking to the Rockingham Road site's landlord next month.

Harper told BBC Radio Northampton: "I think that's one of the reasons [former chairman] Imraan Ladak stood down.

"We were getting nowhere. Now Ken and Lee are working hard. The club's got fantastic history, and we're hopeful we can sort something."

Kettering may be prevented from playing in the Blue Square Premier play-offs because they have just three years left on their lease at Rockingham Road.

A contract of 10 years or more, or ownership of the stadium, is needed to be eligible for promotion.

"As far as I'm concerned, we're aiming to get into the play-offs and let the people behind the scenes deal with the ground," added Harper.
