Harper looks for Kettering to move on

Kettering Town player-manager Lee Harper insists he is staying at Rockingham Road despite being linked to a coaching job at Peterborough.

Posh boss and ex-Poppies manager Mark Cooper is looking for a new goalkeeping coach after Darren Ward's departure.

"The fans have been so supportive during a really difficult time and the chairman's given me this opportunity," Harper told BBC Radio Northampton.

"There's no way I would even consider packing up this job."

Harper took over from Cooper in November and since then several players have left, including defender Exodus Geohaghon who is now with Cooper at London Road.

Harper's assistant manager John Deehan was sacked after their FA Cup defeat by Leeds and chairman Imraan Ladak resigned last week as a result of problems with keeping their ground.

"It's a fantastic opportunity and a fantastic challenge with everything that's going on," added Harper.

"I aim to stick at it and give it my best shot and there's no way I'll be packing in."
