Striker Moses Ashikodi has joined Blue Square Premier side Kettering Town on a free transfer.
Striker Ashikodi, 22, started his career at Millwall and has also had spells with West Ham United, Rangers and Watford.
Poppies chairman Imraan Ladak told the Football Conference website: "There's no doubt about his ability.
"If he performs to his best then he might not be here that long. He is capable of playing at a higher level."
Ashikodi was released by League Two side Shrewsbury Town at the end of last season.
Meanwhile defender Exodus Geohaghon is still at Rockingham Road, despite speculation that he would be leaving the Poppies on deadline day.
