Ipswich Town in talks with Aston Villa over Habib Beye
Beye last played for Villa in October
Ipswich Town boss Paul Jewell has confirmed he is in the process of trying to bring Aston Villa defender Habib Beye in on loan.
The Senegal international, 33, has not played a first-team game since October, featuring only five times this season.
He has made 16 appearances for Villa since joining from Newcastle for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2009.
"I've spoken to Aston Villa, I've spoken to the player," Jewell told BBC Radio Suffolk.
"I'm looking to improve the squad and he'll give us a few options, but I think anyone who comes in will struggle to get into the team."
I want players to have the same ambitions as all of us, we want to get better

Town will hope to bring in the right-back before Saturday's visit of Hull, and despite his side having won four of their last five league games, Jewell is eager to add more strength to his team.
"I think it's important not to stand still and I want the players to want me to improve the squad," he said.
"If someone comes in the door it doesn't mean someone else is out, that's not what it's about.
"I want players to have the same ambitions as all of us, we want to get better.
"And if a guy comes through the door and improves the team that's better for Ipswich."
