Jake Livermore eager for Ipswich Town start

Jake Livermore says he would have no concerns about stepping straight into the Ipswich Town starting line-up.

The on-loan Tottenham midfielder, 20, has played less than an hour of competitive football this season but says he is able to face a full game.

He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I'm fit, I've been keeping fit and playing games in-house back at Spurs.

"The fitness coach here is brilliant, we've been working on it. Yes, I'm ready to go."

Livermore spent much of last year out on loan at Derby and then Peterborough as he looked to re-ignite his career after breaking his leg and foot two years ago.

The Spurs youth product is now out to get game time after realising opportunities would be short at White Hart Lane.

"Mentally more than anything the injury was a blow and hopefully I won't have too many more throughout my career," he said.

"I had a bad injury a couple of years ago, last year was a big year for me, getting back playing and Tottenham did well last season and it was great to be a part of.

"There's a lot of traffic at Tottenham, the squad's filled with internationals and good players.

"With us going out of the League Cup my time was likely to be limited at Tottenham, I think it was in both our interests to go out and play."

Tuesday's 1-0 defeat by Reading saw Livermore come on for his first 10 minutes in an Ipswich shirt, replacing his Spurs team-mate and fellow loanee Andros Townsend.

After a bright start to the season by Roy Keane's men Livermore is eager to be part of their success.

"I thought the lads did well and they've got off to a great start this season," he added.

"Obviously I want to play and hopefully I can do that in the forthcoming weeks.

"There's nothing like waking up on a Saturday, having the pre-match and being ready to play in front of a crowd and for three points."
