Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane is refusing to get carried away by the news he is restricted to making loan signings.

Chief executive Simon Clegg had hinted the club are unlikely to make any more permanent additions before the transfer window closes on 31 August.

Keane told BBC Radio Suffolk: "You would like one or two of your own players where you feel they're going to be yours for two or three years.

"But there's no use crying over spilt milk, I can whinge when I get home."

The Town manager was able to bring in Wigan striker Jason Scotland earlier this week but has been frustrated in his attempts to add more names to his squad.

"It's part of the manager's job to deal with disappointments," he said.

"I was hopeful of getting some deals done over the last three or four months, it never quite panned out but we eventually got Jason the other day."

Keane has not ruled out the possibility of dipping into the loan market, something he has already done twice in as many weeks with the captures of Celtic's Darren O'Dea and Tottenham's Andros Townsend.

"Remember how well the loan players did for us last year," the former Manchester united midfielder continued.

"So it's not all doom and gloom from that side. It's full steam ahead and let's not get bogged down by people who aren't at the football club."
