Former Wycombe Wanderers manager Peter Taylor will not be joining Ipswich Town's backroom staff.
Taylor, 56, previously said he had held informal talks about a coaching role at Ipswich which the Championship side have confirmed took place.
In a statement, the club said: "Senior management staff at the club and Mr Taylor held discussions over a possible role in support of the coaching team.
"However, there will be no further progression of those talks."
Taylor has been out of work since parting company with Wycombe earlier this month.
Ipswich have endured a torrid opening few months of the Championship season under manager Roy Keane.
The East Anglia club are languishing at the bottom of the table with only eight points and are yet to record their first win.
