Ipswich wait on striker's fitness

Jon Walters
Walters is the only Ipswich player to feature in every game this season

Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane says he will make a late decision over the fitness of striker Jon Walters ahead of Saturday's game at Plymouth.

The 26-year-old picked up an ankle injury in Tuesday's draw with Watford.

Keane told the club website: "Jon doesn't go off the pitch for nothing and it's a concern.

"We are going into another battle at Plymouth and we're going to need all our leaders and characters and Jon is one of them."

If Walters fails to recover in time Keane stressed it would give other players a chance to impress.

"We have Tamas Priskin and Jon Stead to come back in so we can't feel sorry for ourselves," he said.

Ipswich are already without Connor Wickham for the trip to Devon as he is away on international duty with England's Under-17s.
