Ipswich Town youngster Tommy Smith has signed a contract extension which will keep him at Portman Road until 2012.
The 18-year-old defender has been out of action for most of the season with a broken ankle but is highly thought of by manager Jim Magilton.
Smith told the club website: "I've had a good few weeks because I'm making progress from my injury and the new contract adds to it."
Smith's current deal was due to expire in June 2010.
