Bruce waiting for contract offer

Ipswich defender Alex Bruce says he has yet to be offered a new contract despite earlier statements from the club that talks were ongoing.

The Republic of Ireland international's current deal expires in June 2009.

Bruce told the club website: "I've not been offered anything but we will have to wait and see how that develops."

The 24-year-old, who was left out of the team for six weeks in October and November, scored his first Ipswich goal in the 2-1 defeat at Birmingham City.

Bruce has been linked with moves to a number of clubs and is hoping to secure his future quickly but says, in the meantime, he is looking to play regularly.

"Obviously I'd like it resolved as soon as possible but for me now, I have to get my head down, play as many games as I can and see how things progress."

In October, Ipswich manager Jim Magilton stated that an announcement over Bruce's future was imminent.

Town now say talks with up to 12 players, whose contracts expire at the end of the season, will start in January.
