Ipswich defender Alex Bruce has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Wales on Saturday. The 23-year-old was in the B squad to face Scotland but with four defenders pulling out of the senior squad through injury, Bruce has been promoted.
Givens, who replaced Steve Staunton as Ireland manager last month, coached Bruce at under-21 level.
Bruce made his only appearance for the senior side in 2006 against Sweden.
