Walters has been capped at Republic of Ireland B level

Ipswich Town striker Jon Walters has signed a new contract keeping him at Portman Road until 2012.

The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland B international signed a three-year deal in January but has been linked to Premier League clubs since then.

Manager Jim Magilton told the official club website: "We have always seen him as an important part of what we are building here."

Walters has scored 19 goals for Ipswich since joining from Chester in 2007.
