Ipswich the club for me - Lisbie

Lisbie scored 17 goals for Colchester United last season

New Ipswich striker Kevin Lisbie has revealed four or five clubs were keen to lure him from Colchester but Town were always his preferred option.

Lisbie admits leaving the U's was the hardest decision of his life but their relegation to League One had forced him to move to Portman Road.

The 29-year-old added to BBC Radio Suffolk: "As soon as I heard Ipswich made a bid I had my mind set on it."

Lisbie is due to make his debut in a friendly against West Brom on Saturday.

The former Charlton man believes regular first-team football aided his game last season when he scored 17 goals for Colchester United and he expects to continue to be a regular starter.

Lisbie said: "At Charlton you grew up in a team but you got thrown out if they bought a player so I've not played a whole season.

"Just playing the whole season and obviously scoring goals, it all just came together and I hope to carry it on to this season now."
