Norris has scored one goal in nine appearances for Ipswich
Ipswich Town midfielder David Norris has had surgery on the heel injury that brought a premature end to his season.
The 27-year-old has missed Town's last seven matches after suffering the injury in the opening 25 minutes of the 2-0 win over Charlton on 15 March.
Norris, who joined Town from Plymouth in January, will be on crutches for almost two weeks before he starts rehabilitation work.
The club are confident he will be fully fit in time for pre-season training.
Town's physio Matt Byard has told the club's website: "We were hoping to avoid an operation and get him back in action and he was making progress but he could only get to around 70% activity before the pain intensified.
When you have eight or nine goals in the middle of the season you expect to score another eight or nine
Ipswich striker Pablo Counago
"Mr Lloyd-Williams, a foot specialist in London who carried out surgery on Jason [De Vos] and Bam Bam [Richard Naylor] last year, did the operation and was very happy with the result."
Meanwhile, Spanish striker Pablo Counago thinks he should have scored more goals this season.
The 28-year-old has hit the back of the net 12 times so far this year.
He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "When you have eight or nine goals in the middle of the season you expect to score another eight or nine."
