Ipswich 2-0 Charlton

Ipswich revived their play-off hopes with a win over faltering Charlton.

Addicks keeper Nicky Weaver gifted the hosts the lead when he allowed Owen Garvan's left-wing cross to loop over him and go in off the far post.

Ipswich were forced into a change when David Morris limped off but his replacement Danny Haynes volleyed in Town's second goal on 53 minutes.

The hosts had to finish the game with 10 men when Shefki Kuqi - who arrived on loan on Friday - was carried off.

  • Ipswich boss Jim Magilton:
"It gives us a lot of confidence.

"Sometimes after a bad run you don't know where your next win is going to come from, but there's so much character in our dressing room.

"The players knew this was a big game and they stood up to the plate. We've got eight games left and have nothing to lose but everything to gain."

  • Charlton boss Alan Pardew:
"We're very disappointed because we controlled large sections of the game.

"We've played a lot worse and won. But there's enough character and resilience in the dressing room to bounce back.

"There were some good performances and the truth is we still carry a major threat. By that I don't mean finishing in the play-offs, I mean to go up."
