Rhodes, 17, scored twice in the FA Cup and started three times in the league for the U's but is wanted back by Ipswich for their FA Youth Cup games.

"It's a shame but Ipswich have asked for him back so all we can do is thank him for his efforts here," Oxford boss Jim Smith told his club's website.

"Jordan is a player with a bright future ahead of him."

Smith added: "We all saw the potential during his month with us. We will certainly keep an eye on his career progresses."
