Moore ponders future
Ronnie Moore
Millers' boss Ronnie Moore is highly regarded
Ronnie Moore says he has been left in limbo by the news that Ipswich have not approached him to become their new manager.

Rotherham issued a statement on Saturday afternoon refusing the Suffolk club permission to speak to their highly-rated manager.

But Ipswich chairman David Sheepshanks, who parted company with George Burley on Friday, quickly denied he had been in contact with the Millers.

Whether it was a hoax call or I've got an impersonator, I don't know

"I don't know what the hell's going on. I don't know what I'm doing," said Moore.

"David Sheepshanks is saying it wasn't him - and if it's a hoax, I just won't be able to believe it.

"I'll talk to my chairman on Monday morning to sort this out, although I'm not sure he knows exactly what's happening."

Moore admitted on Saturday he would be very interested in speaking to Ipswich about the job, but Sheepshanks was adamant that there had been no contact with the Millers.

Sheepshanks told BBC Radio Five Live: "I would love to know where those rumours came from.

"I don't even know the Rotherham chairman's name. We have had absolutely no contact with Rotherham or any other club.

"Where this story came from I have no idea. Whether it was a hoax call or whether I've got some impersonator, I really don't know."

Sheepshanks wants to know where the rumours started
Sheepshanks admitted he was an admirer of Moore's efforts at Millmoor, where he has guided the club to two successive promotions in recent seasons.

But he stressed the club was yet to finalise a list of candidates for the top job.

"I am very pleased that people of Ronnie Moore's calibre think highly of the job," he said.

"The management role at Ipswich is a unique job and we are certainly looking to interview from a very high calibre of candidate.

"We have been compiling a list and if we need to contact certain clubs Ronnie Moore may or may not be on that list.

"He has done wonderful things with Rotherham and we would be foolish not to think of people like him."
