Dinning (left) faced the likes of Milan Baros playing for Port Vale
Former Wigan and Stoke City midfielder Tony Dinning has been training with Inverness and could be offered a deal by the Scottish Premier League club.
The 33-year-old is currently with League Two side Chester City but has featured infrequently this season.
Manager Craig Brewster told the Inverness website: "We'll have a look at him next week and make a decision.
"We're certainly trying to add to the squad. The board have been generous. They have backed me all the way."
Dinning has also played for Stockport County, Walsall, Blackpool, Ipswich Town, Bristol City and Port Vale.
Brewster has already supplemented his player pool during the January transfer window with the captures of Richie Byrne, Thierry Gatheussi and Filipe Morais and Pavels Mihadjuks.
The club are also in talks about extending the contract of midfielder Don Cowie, whose current deal runs out in the summer.
Meanwhile, striker Rory McAllister is set to leave the SPL's bottom club.
"There is interest from lower leagues," added Brewster.
