Hull are hopeful of extending Mannone's stay at the club

Hull keeper Vito Mannone believes confidence is returning to the squad as the club looks to move away from the Championship relegation zone.

The Tigers are unbeaten in their last five games and have not lost in six on their travels in the league.

"We are on a good run and we know we are in good shape and it's hard to beat us," Mannone told BBC Radio Humberside.

"With Christmas coming soon there are a lot of games to play and it's important to keep the mentality right."

The Tigers' last defeat came over a month ago at the hands of local rivals Scunthorpe United when they were beaten 1-0 at the KC Stadium.

Since that game, Nigel Pearson's side have picked up two wins and three draws, culminating in a goalless stalemate with fellow strugglers Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Mannone acknowledging room for improvement..

"We need to win these games if we want to think about going up in the table," the 22-year-old added.
