Hull City striker Caleb Folan says he needs to play more games this season to fulfil his World Cup ambitions.
The Republic of Ireland international told BBC Radio Humberside: "I don't want a season like last season.
"It's a big year and I do really need to start playing a bit, I've talked to the manager and told him I've got to play more and he understood."
The 26-year-old managed just 15 Premier League appearances last season and won his first three caps for his country.
Folan concedes that he may have to consider a move, despite having three years remaining on his current contract.
He said: "The conversations with the staff have been positive and that has put me in a positive frame of mind for the coming season, at the moment I'm proud to be a Hull City player."
He is aware though that other clubs are monitoring his position: "I've heard of various sides' interest but nothing has been put to the club as far as I know.
"Wolves has been thrown about a few times but nothing has been put to me."
