Hull City have confirmed they have made a bid to sign AS Nancy striker Marc-Antoine Fortune for an undisclosed fee.
Fortune, 27, caught the Tigers' eye when he played on loan at West Bromwich Albion last season, scoring five goals in 17 appearances for the Baggies.
City chairman Paul Duffen told BBC Look North: "We are in negotiations, we've met the player and spoken to the club."
Duffen confirmed that a fee had been agreed but was not prepared to reveal the details of the bid.
The Tigers' chief is still waiting to hear from Manchester United's Fraizer Campbell about his potential move to the KC Stadium.
Campbell is presently with the England Under-21 squad in Sweden and is the subject of a £6m bid from the Yorkshire club.
